About This Opportunity

This is an exceptional chance to join our team as an estimator, specializing in geotechnical construction cost estimates. As an estimator, you will play a crucial role in the planning and development of tender submissions and will be involved in the execution of projects.

To succeed in this position, you should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Main Job Duties
  • Evaluate the costs of materials, labor, and equipment for geotechnical construction projects across South Africa.
  • Analyze project specifications and create detailed estimates for clients.
  • Develop estimates to support project planning, organization, and scheduling.
  • Oversee pre-qualification and pre-bid submission processes.
  • Prepare and submit bids that meet project objectives.
  • Ensure timely submission of relevant documents and budgets.
  • Provide regular updates to Management and clients on project progress.
  • Develop contingency plans and mitigate risks that may impact cost and time estimates.
  • Foster effective collaboration with colleagues and ensure smooth handovers for successful bid execution.
  • Participate in site inspections and bid delivery, as necessary.
Essential Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience as an estimator in the construction industry.
  • Prior experience in the geotechnical sector is advantageous.
  • A solid understanding of construction standards and specifications, including COLTO, COTO, and other relevant standards.
  • Knowledge of construction contract documents, such as FIDIC, GCC, NEC, and JBCC.
  • Exceptional time management, multitasking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective management and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work closely with colleagues and contribute to team success.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly efficient computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Willingsness to travel and conduct site visits.
