Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Manager to join our team at Arvo, a company based in the mining industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management and leadership experience.

About the Role:

  • This is a key position within our organization, responsible for leading and managing a finance team of 15 members.
  • The successful candidate will oversee monthly management reporting for two business segments, covering six legal entities.
  • They will be responsible for preparing and reviewing annual financial statements, serving as the primary point of contact for external auditors.
  • Additionally, they will contribute to the implementation of a new ERP system, scheduled for Q1 2025.
  • The role requires strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and manage a dynamic finance team of 15 members, ensuring optimal performance and alignment with organizational goals.
  2. Oversee monthly management reporting for two business segments, covering six legal entities, ensuring timely and accurate financial insights.
  3. Take full responsibility for the preparation and review of annual financial statements, serving as the primary point of contact for external auditors.
  4. Contribute to the successful implementation of a new ERP system, scheduled for Q1 2025, overseeing the transition and integration.
  5. Manage and optimize liquidity and cash flow, ensuring the business maintains financial stability.
  6. Review and approve the payment schedule, ensuring timely and accurate execution.
  7. Oversee cost allocations, ensuring accuracy and alignment with business activities.
  8. Supervise customer invoicing processes, ensuring timely, accurate billing in line with contractual terms.
  9. Manage SARS submissions, including VAT, income tax, PAYE, and other statutory requirements, ensuring full compliance with tax regulations.
  10. Review payroll processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  11. Provide support in external financing applications, offering financial insights and data to support organizational growth.

Requirements:

  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a financial management role, preferably within the mining industry.
    • Proven experience managing a finance team.
    • Familiarity with ERP systems and the implementation process is a plus.
  • Education and Qualifications:
    • A Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification is preferable, but alternative qualifications (e.g., SAIPA) will also be considered.
    • Strong technical financial knowledge, particularly within mining or related industries, is essential.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • Advanced knowledge of financial reporting, accounting principles, and statutory requirements.
    • Expertise in cash flow management, cost allocations, and tax compliance.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with external stakeholders and internal teams.

Working Hours and Salary:

We offer a competitive salary between R80,000-R100,000, depending on experience and open to negotiation for the ideal candidate.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 7am - 4pm in office.
