Job Description

We are currently seeking an IT Security Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the security of our systems and networks, ensuring that they are secure and compliant with industry standards.

The IT Security Technician will be required to perform a variety of tasks, including general security checks, patching and server administration, N-Able patch management, identity and access management, and documentation. This includes:

  • Monitoring Microsoft 365 Defender to ensure the security of endpoints and remediating any issues that arise.
  • Analysing daily reports from McAfee database to identify potential security threats.
  • Monitoring traffic coming through our firewall using Forticloud.
  • Checking device compliance and cleaning up stale devices on O365 using Microsoft Intune.
  • Identifying vulnerabilities on our servers using Rapid 7 and remediating them as necessary.

The IT Security Technician will also be responsible for patching and server administration, including:

  • Daily checking of the Rapid7 dashboard for any vulnerabilities which need to be patched.
  • Servers being rebooted after hours throughout the week and every Sunday.

In addition, the IT Security Technician will be responsible for N-Able patch management, including:

  • Monthly auto-patching of Windows updates to our servers.
  • Maintaining the N-Able server on a weekly basis, ensuring all servers are reporting back to the N-Able server and client connectors are operational.

The IT Security Technician will also be responsible for identity and access management, including:

  • Creating VPN accounts and domain accounts and issuing credentials to users.
  • Modifying or removing user's access or rights on our network.
  • Keeping accurate records of all external users with access to our network.
  • Creation of accounts on Osirium PAM solution.
  • Assisting users with issues regarding access to VPN.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both verbally and written, and the ability to manage expectations effectively. They will also have empathy and be able to work well under pressure. Knowledge of the Microsoft Security stack is essential, as well as experience with third-party security protocols and applications.
