Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Veterinarian to join our team at the sanctuary.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the health and well-being of the sanctuary animals, including conducting veterinary procedures, medical check-ups, and diagnostics.

They will also be responsible for maintaining accurate medical records, making observational assessments of animals, and adjusting treatment plans as needed.

In addition, the candidate will contribute to preventative medicine protocols, assist in managing free-roaming game, and provide support with safe animal transfers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the health and well-being of sanctuary animals
  • Conduct veterinary procedures, medical check-ups, and diagnostics
  • Maintain accurate medical records
  • Make observational assessments of animals and adjust treatment plans as needed
  • Contribute to preventative medicine protocols
  • Assist in managing free-roaming game
  • Support safe animal transfers
Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess a fully qualified veterinarian degree and be registered with the South African Veterinary Council or eligible to do so.

They must also have at least 5 years of experience in a small or mixed animal practice, including wildlife or welfare settings.

Candidates should have a strong animal welfare mindset, a driver's license, and be willing to work extended hours and weekends.

Desirable Qualifications:

Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary range of R40,000 - R47,000 per annum.

They will also be entitled to pension fund contributions and medical aid benefits.
