Overview

We are seeking a highly qualified individual to join our academic team as a Senior Lecturer in Research Methodologies. This role is pivotal in enhancing the educational experience of our postgraduate students.

Qualifications Required:

  • Possession of a PhD.
  • Extensive expertise in qualitative research methods.
  • Strong knowledge of mixed methods research design.
  • Familiarity with quantitative research methodologies.
  • Proven experience in teaching qualitative research methods to postgraduate students across diverse skill levels.
  • Experience in online and blended learning environments, with familiarity in platforms such as Canvas being advantageous.
  • Track record of supervising master's and/or PhD candidates to successful completion.
  • Demonstrated interest in teaching and research, evidenced by publications in higher education or related fields.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and oversee various faculty-wide initiatives focused on qualitative and mixed methods research methodologies tailored to postgraduate needs.
  • Assist postgraduate students in conceptualizing, designing, and executing their research projects.
  • Guide students in analyzing and interpreting qualitative and mixed methods data.
  • Engage with students and their supervisors to provide research consultation.
  • Stay updated with contemporary trends in higher education and research methodologies.

Engagement and Collaboration:

  • Participate in workshops, training sessions, and academic symposia.
  • Contribute to relevant committees and working groups.
  • Establish networks with stakeholders, including supervisors and research coordinators.
  • Collaborate with School and Faculty Graduate Studies Committees.
  • Work alongside colleagues in the Teaching and Learning Unit to foster strategic initiatives.

Essential Competencies:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in a variety of qualitative research methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of quantitative research methods.
  • Ability to teach and utilize mixed methods research designs and qualitative software such as NVivo.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with a diverse student and staff population.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
  • Experience with digital technologies and online learning tools.
  • Outstanding organizational and project management abilities.
  • Dependability and attention to detail in fulfilling responsibilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to anticipate needs and take initiative.
  • Adaptability to changing environments and resource optimization.
  • Capacity to work independently or collaboratively while managing multiple tasks.
  • High proficiency in MS Office and learning management systems.
