Reports To: Principal or Assistant Principal

Position Purpose:

PE instructors at SPARK Schools enhance student success by cultivating a positive environment for physical education. They engage directly with students in outdoor sports settings to promote health and wellness.

These instructors play a vital role in the SPARK Schools community, contributing to our commitment to rigorous and engaging learning experiences for our students.

Responsibilities:

  • Foster a positive culture around physical education while maintaining high behavioral standards for all students.
  • Implement SPARK's culture and behavior management strategies, including the SPARK SEL (Social Emotional Learning) Curriculum.
  • Supervise students during morning arrivals.
  • Prepare for SPARK events.
  • Actively coach students in developing gross motor skills, teamwork, and specific sports techniques.
  • Educate students on healthy eating, exercise, and hygiene practices, including making positive choices at home and school.
  • Design lesson plans aligned with the network-wide PE curriculum, tailored to individual student needs.
  • Devise strategies to enhance content delivery and student outcomes throughout the academic year.
  • Manage PE equipment responsibly and report any damages.
  • Communicate professionally with school staff and parents regarding student progress.
  • Engage actively in professional development opportunities as part of the SPARK Schools team.
  • Exhibit professionalism at all SPARK Schools events and towards all stakeholders.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Experience
    • Prior experience working with primary school-aged children.
    • Background in Physical Education or related training.
    • Preferably pursuing a degree in Human Movement/Sport Science.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Fluency in English.
    • Police clearance certificate.
    • Grade 12 Certificate.
    • SACE registration.
    • Preferably pursuing a degree in Human Movement/Sport Science or currently studying part-time towards such a degree (3rd or 4th academic year).

R 12,699.00 per month cost to the company
