Department Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Department Manager to oversee the entire distribution operations process for our Cape Town branch. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all stock, including receipt, storage, and control, as well as the assembly and dispatch of orders.
Key Responsibilities- Stock Management: Manage all stock, including receipt, GRN'ing, sorting, packing away, bin maintenance, stock transfers, quarantining of stock, returns of stock to suppliers, and stock control activities.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with legal requirements and company standard operating procedures (SOPs) relating to quarantining of stock, handling stock, and minimizing risks associated with theft, pilferage, damages, and losses.
- Stock Count and Cycle Counts: Conduct quarterly stock counts and implement ongoing special and cycle counts of stock.
- Order Assembly and Dispatch: Manage the process of assembling stock against an invoice, including picking, packing, and checking of orders, as well as dispatch of stock.
- Customer Returns: Manage the process of customer returns of stock, including salvaging of stock and destruction of stock under the directives of the Managing Pharmacist.
- Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements relating to the building, operational processes, and staff.
- Housekeeping and Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized warehouse, including stock and machinery, and ensure all maintenance requirements are met.
- Operations Management: Manage the operations of distribution contracts, including storage and control of stock, assembling and dispatch of orders against invoice.
- Financial Management: Manage the budget for operations, ensure compliance with the budget, and report progress against and variance with the budget.
- Capital Expenditure: Budget for capital expenditure, motivate for purchases, and ensure compliance with the capital expenditure process.
- Staff Management: Manage the staffing of the operation, including compliance with employment policies, performance and conduct of staff, and continuous training of staff.
- Discrepancies and Non-Compliance: Rectify and report on any discrepancies, procedure breaches, or non-compliance issues arising from the Internal Audit department's report.
- Management and Supervisory Skills: Proven experience in managing and supervising teams.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to manage complex operations.
- Knowledge and Experience: Relevant business degree or equivalent, 4 years' experience in wholesale Pharmaceutical Industry, knowledge of SAP and KNAPP system or any experience relevant WMS, and high proficiency in working on reports from WMS and Excel.
