Market Developer Job Description

Mukuru is seeking a highly skilled Market Developer to drive business growth and expansion in the Wallet and VAS space. As a key member of our growth team, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to penetrate new markets, improve customer retention, and increase product usage.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Market Penetration: Drive market penetration of the Wallet and VAS business to deliver budgeted targets for assigned markets and ensure operational excellence.
  • Customer Acquisition and Retention: Lead the acquisition of new customers, improve the retention of existing customers, and increase the usage of our products by developing the customer proposition strategy, collaborating with sales and marketing teams, and overseeing distribution channels.
  • Project Management: Oversee the successful implementation of plans in conjunction with other departments, manage projects in line with the specified project plan, provide guidance and direction to project team members, and track progress on a daily basis.
  • New Business Opportunities: Identify and develop new business opportunities to expand the company, including identifying opportunities to expand product and services range offered, ensuring opportunities are strategically and legally viable, and presenting business cases for approval.
  • Assistance with Budgeting and Partner Management: Assist the Market Development Manager with developing budgets, reporting on market performance, conducting pricing reviews, and managing ongoing relationships with partners.
  • Market Dynamics and Decision Making: Understand market dynamics to enable decision making, keep abreast of current and future market trends and industry changes, and identify competitors and their business models.
  • Professional Development: Manage own professional and self-development, including attending weekly KPI meetings with the Manager, attending monthly performance meetings with the Manager, and attending required training courses for new products.
Requirements:
  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Related tertiary qualification
  • 2 years of work experience
  • Experience in a Market Development role
  • Experience in Financial Services (desirable)
  • Knowledge of payments and remittances
  • Knowledge of the marketing and sales process (B2C & C2C)
  • Knowledge of contracts and commercial agreements
  • Knowledge of operating license requirements
