Job Title: Head of Legal

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Head of Legal to join our team at Boardroom Appointments. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic legal advice and guidance to our business, ensuring that we operate within a compliant and risk-managed framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic legal advice and guidance to the business, ensuring that we operate within a compliant and risk-managed framework.
  • Lead and manage a team of lawyers and non-lawyers, providing coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities to ensure that they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.
  • Develop and implement legal policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure that we are operating in a compliant and risk-managed way.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external legal advisors, local and cross-border, to ensure that we have access to the best possible advice and support.
  • Conduct research and develop legal frameworks, and analyze local and international trends that could impact the business.
  • Conduct assessment on labor legislation compliance, locally and cross-border.
  • Conduct business improvement initiatives on ethics and corporate governance.
  • Promote a culture that supports high performance through performance management and employee engagement.

Requirements:

  • 10-15 years of work experience in the same or similar role.
  • 10 years of experience in managing legal teams in a listed company environment.
  • Substantial experience in corporate commercial & M&A matters.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation including corporate law, competition law, contract law, dispute resolution, environmental law, mining law, labor law, etc.
  • Solid regulatory compliance experience in multinational companies.
  • Proven track record in establishing formal legal policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Strong legal risk management background.
  • Demonstrable legal project management experience.
  • Leadership and management of lawyers and non-lawyers.
