Fish Filleter Job Description

At Job Jack, we're seeking a skilled Fish Filleter to join our team. As a Fish Filleter, you'll play a vital role in preparing fish for our customers, ensuring it's cleaned, cut, and ready for cooking or sale.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the filleting of fish, maintaining attention to detail and freshness.
  • Provide exceptional customer service with a positive attitude, ensuring a high level of satisfaction.
  • Merchandise the fresh fish counter and seafood freezers, maintaining a visually appealing display.
  • Maintain and follow housekeeping and food safety procedures, adhering to company policy.
  • Ensure all operational systems are well-maintained, minimizing downtime.
  • Assist in managing waste and shrinkages in the department, staying within budget.
  • Participate in weekly stock takes in the fish department, ensuring accuracy.
  • Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements, maximizing sales in the department.
  • Develop strong communication and time management skills, working efficiently during busy periods.
  • Maintain a solid knowledge of products on sale, including product codes.
  • Utilize knives and tools, such as bandsaws, to cut and fillet fish to the correct sizes.
Requirements
  • Matriculation certificate.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • A clear criminal record.
Preferences
  • South African candidates.
  • Residence within 15km of the job location.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the fish industry, with awareness of the WWF-SASSI Sustainable Seafood Initiative.
