Job SummaryWe are looking for a Payroll Administrator who can take charge of all payroll functions, ensuring accurate and timely payment of payroll expenses and taxes. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of payroll regulations and be able to collaborate with professionals from various departments.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement systems to process payroll account transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, deductions, taxes, and third-party payments.
- Coordinate timekeeping and payroll systems to ensure seamless integration.
- Oversee the processing of payroll changes, including new recruits, terminations, increases, and system upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, bargaining councils, and internal policies.
- Supervise and coach payroll clerks and assistants to ensure high-quality work.
- Liaise with auditors and manage payroll tax audits to minimize risks.
- Collaborate with other internal departments to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports to support business decisions.
- Resolve issues and answer payroll-related questions to ensure employee satisfaction.
- Perform WCA calculations and submissions, IOD submissions, direct EFT transfers, reconciliation, and payments of third-party payments, union, and bargaining council fees.
- Manage employment equity record-keeping and full SARS/UIF reporting, including monthly and annual returns, EMP201, and EMP501 submissions.
- Proven 10 years of experience in a payroll role, with training certificates and/or qualifications in payroll.
- Current knowledge of payroll procedures and related laws, with excellent understanding of multi-location payroll and taxes.
- Familiarity with payroll software, such as SAGE 300.
- Meticulous, analytical mind, and good mathematical skills, with management and leadership skills.
- Assertive and able to work independently, with a deep understanding of payroll regulations.
- Strong organizational skills, with ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in mentoring junior staff and collaborating with professionals from various departments.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, with proven experience in financial accounting, preferably within the security and construction industry.
