Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Lead to join our team at Dimension Data. As a Technical Lead, you will be responsible for leading the installation, configuration, and fault management of complex technical systems within a technology domain.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the installation and configuration of technical systems, applications, and process designs for clients' purchased or outsourced technology and business process solutions.
  • Work directly with clients to manage initial access, map and transfer data, create process documentation, and train or coordinate training for client users.
  • Test and troubleshoot the functionality of installed systems; identify and document technical issues to be escalated to product and system integration teams for resolution.
  • Provide feedback based on client experiences to product and professional services teams for product and process improvements.
  • Interact with clients on-site to meet more highly complex requirements of a solution.
  • Escalate unresolved problems and issues to the relevant third parties.
  • Delegate lower complexity tasks to engineers and technicians.
  • Assume responsibility for the coordination of the activities of the engineers, in line with performance targets, leading by example and monitoring the quality of engineers' and technicians' work when required.
  • Write reports and proposals and complete and maintain project documentation.
  • Recommend improvements to standard operating procedures relating to installations and fixes.
  • Act as a coach and mentor to Implementation Engineers and Technicians.
  • Be included in highly complex design work, with input to the design expected.
  • Work independently and take ownership of relevant technologies according to domain or specialization.
  • Monitor the quality of work produced by Engineers and Technicians and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • Extensive work experience in a technical implementation engineering or similar role.
  • Experience engaging with clients and conducting presentations.
  • Excellent project administration and documentation experience.
  • Report writing experience.
  • Extensive project management experience.
  • Computer Science / Information Technology Degree or equivalent together with specialized training in new technologies and legacy systems or equivalent.
  • CCIE (Cisco Routing and Switching, Wireless or ACI).
  • Specialist Networking knowledge and experience essential.
  • Wireless, SDWAN and ACI beneficial.
  • Superior level knowledge in the following and strong knowledge in all other areas of: IP internetworking, LAN Switching, Wireless, WAN protocols. IP Routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP) and ACI.
