About the Role

Liyema Consulting is seeking a highly skilled Senior VDI Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our IT operations team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • VDI Solution Design: Design VDI solutions to meet business requirements, taking into account complex application architecture and its impact on VDI environments.
  • Ansible Playbook Development: Develop Ansible playbooks for VDI deployment in hybrid cloud environments, ensuring seamless automation and resource management.
  • VDI Operations and Maintenance: Manage VDI operations and maintenance in hybrid cloud architectures, ensuring optimal performance and cost optimization.
  • VDI Automation Initiatives: Drive VDI automation initiatives, including deployment and resource management, to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Engineering Role Design: Design specific engineering roles for VDIs, ensuring optimal resource allocation and utilization.
  • Global Resource Demand Consultation: Consult on global resource demands and design optimal VDI solutions to meet business needs.
  • VDI Cloud Strategy: Drive VDI cloud strategy and ensure modern architectural design, aligning with business objectives.
  • Performance and Cost Optimization: Perform housekeeping, monitoring, and management of VDI platforms for performance and cost optimization.
  • Self-Service Requests: Define self-service requests in ServiceNow for VDI-related needs, ensuring seamless user experience.
  • Reporting and Forecasting: Report and forecast VDI demands based on user and platform requirements, providing valuable insights for business decision-making.
  • Cloud Migration Support: Provide support for cloud migration requests focusing on VDIs, ensuring smooth transition and minimal disruption.
  • ITSM Services: Manage Problem, Incident, and Change processes within ITSM services, ensuring efficient issue resolution and change management.
  • Script Maintenance and Documentation: Operate and maintain scripts, and keep documentation up to date in relevant systems, ensuring knowledge sharing and reuse.
  • External Contractor Management: Coordinate with external contractors and manage feedback/timelines for service providers, ensuring successful project delivery.
  • Security Vulnerability Management: Address security vulnerabilities and moderate operation meetings, ensuring a secure and stable VDI environment.
Requirements
  • IT Operations Experience: Minimum 4 years of IT operations experience, including ITIL.
  • Storage Experience: Minimum 3 years of storage experience.
  • Scrum Work Experience: Minimum 3 years of Scrum work experience.
  • VDI and Operating Systems Experience: Minimum 3 years of VDI and operating systems experience.
  • Service Provider Management: Minimum 2 years of managing service provider topics.
  • Education: Degree in Information Systems or equivalent experience.
  • Certifications: ITIL certification (advantageous), Scrum certification (advantageous).
