We invite qualified candidates to consider the Facilities Manager role within the Industrialisation Department. This position will report to the Head of Industrialisation and is based in Gauteng Province.

Job Purpose

  • Lead and oversee planned preventative maintenance initiatives within Alstom, focusing on site infrastructure, including buildings, ancillary equipment, supply chain plant equipment, and site services.
  • Manage projects related to future developments, construction efforts, facility enhancements, and environmental and energy initiatives.
  • Coordinate and manage the technical team of FM Service Providers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Serve as the Facilities Management lead in developing and proposing technical solutions.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders, OEM suppliers, and external service providers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily Facility Management operations, ensuring timely, budget-compliant, and quality-driven delivery of activities.
  • Ensure optimal performance of facilities equipment, infrastructure, and associated plants.
  • Manage relationships with contractors and vendors, ensuring service contracts meet facility management requirements and are executed promptly.
  • Participate in evaluating and selecting suppliers and OEMs for facility management, maintenance, and project management.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations as dictated by legislation and company policies.
  • Uphold adherence to relevant company procedures, policies, and governance standards.
  • Provide engineering expertise as needed to resolve issues and prevent work stoppages.
  • Design and implement effective project management strategies as required.
  • Plan and organize Facilities & Infrastructure-related maintenance activities efficiently.
  • Ensure adequate resources are available on-site and manage unforeseen delays effectively.
  • Oversee the implementation of the CMMS program for Facilities & Infrastructure.
  • Ensure accurate recording and analysis from the CMMS.
  • Supervise and support the FM Team in achieving their objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement and performance of all critical equipment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in a complex industrial environment, including asset care and manufacturing experience in Rolling Stock.
  • Proven experience in managing teams and contractors.

  • Comprehensive understanding of production operations and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of project management principles.
  • Established background in Facility Management and Maintenance activities.

  • Self-motivated with a solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving.
