About the Role

The Senior Manager, Data Science is a senior people management role accountable for operationally managing other seasoned or senior Data Scientists / Data Analysts. In addition to managing a team, this role applies and inspires the adoption of data science and analytics within NTT DATA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of Data Scientists / Data Analysts to ensure achievement of team objectives/KPIs
  • Identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive business solutions
  • Provide guidance in the research, design, implementation and deployment of scalable data analytics vision and machine learning solutions to challenge complex business issues
  • Manage company's data with third party sources of information when needed
  • Provide guidance in the enhancement of data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems
  • Provide guidance to process, clean, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis, and building algorithms necessary to find meaningful answers
  • Perform analysis using programming languages or statistical packages such as Python and R etc.
  • Guides on the mining and analysis of data to drive optimization and improvement of business strategy
  • Provide guidance to develop scalable and highly available applications leveraging the latest tools and technologies
  • Creatively visualizes and effectively communicates results of data analysis, insights, and ideas in a variety of formats to key decision-makers within the business
  • Set operational objectives for successful launch by leading and mentoring diverse, geo-distributed teams through innovation, bootstrapping, pilot, production, scaling, and maintenance phases with multiple stakeholders to the highest levels of quality and performance
  • Manage the development of SQL Queries for reports and dashboards
  • Analyse relational and transactional databases to provide data analysis, and present results in a clear manner
  • Provide guidance on the creation of documentation around processes and procedures and manage code reviews
  • Applies industry standards best practices to development activities
  • Provide guidance to working on data set to ensure solutions are successfully executed, within agreed upon time frames
  • Continuously coach and mentor team to understand and apply data to solve business solutions
  • Continuously ensure team remains abreast of latest technology and tools in the area of data science

Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of data modelling
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Quantitative and qualitative analysis skills
  • Desire to acquire more knowledge to keep up to speed with the ever-evolving field of data science and analytics
  • Curiosity to sift through data to find answers and more insights
  • Excellent knowledge of the information technology industry within a matrixed organisation and the typical business problems such organisations face
  • Ability to translate technical findings clearly and fluently to non-technical team business stakeholders to enable informed decision-making
  • Ability to create a storyline around the data to make it easy to interpret and understand
  • Self-driven and able to work independently, yet acts as a team player
  • Able to apply data science principles through a business lens
  • Desire to create strategies and solutions that challenge and expand the thinking of everyone around you
  • Ability to think strategically about how to use data to drive competitive advantages
  • Excellent leadership skills

Academic Qualifications and Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree or related in a relevant field such Data Science, Business Analytics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science etc.
  • Relevant programming certification(s)
  • Agile certification preferable

Required Experience

  • Extended demonstrable experience with one or more programming languages (e.g. Python) and database languages (e.g. SQL)
  • Extended demonstrable experience with data warehouse and data lake technical architectures, infrastructure components, ETL/ ELT, and reporting/analytic tools
  • Extended demonstrable experience in data modelling
  • Extended demonstrable experience idesigning tabular models in Analysis Services
  • Extended demonstrated experience with Azure Synapse Analytics, SQL pools, data lakes.
  • Extended demonstrated experience in advanced Power BI, including complex DAX expressions
  • Extended demonstrable experience of data migration skills with Azure Data Factory and Integration Services
  • Extended demonstrable experience in Elastic search, Scoring, and recommendation on very large volumes of data
  • Extended demonstrated experience with Agile Development Methodologies and Test-Driven Development
  • Solid line manager experience leading and managing a team of Data Scientists / Data Analysts
