We are seeking a reliable and skilled individual with a valid Code 10 driver's licence and PDP to drive a school transportation vehicle within a prescribed route(s) in accordance with time schedules. The successful candidate will be responsible for picking up and discharging students at designated stops, transporting students and teachers on field trips, and maintaining order and discipline among student passengers according to district policy.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Learner Transportation: Drive a school transportation vehicle within a prescribed route(s) in accordance with time schedules, pick up and discharge students at designated stops, transport students and teachers on field trips, plan necessary routes and stops as needed, and maintain order and discipline among student passengers.
  • General Worker Duties: Perform general maintenance and facility support, receive requests for maintenance of facilities, check facilities daily to ensure everything is working and maintained, complete any facilities or maintenance required, make facilities manager aware of any repairs required, provide general support on security and access control across the facilities, and provide general support on traffic management.
  • Garden Maintenance: Maintain grass and flower beds, clean and maintain the garden across the facility, advise the facilities manager of requirements in the garden, check gardening consumables and advise facilities manager of requirements, and store and maintain tools for gardening.
  • Health and Safety: Conduct safety and operational inspection of assigned vehicle daily, report needed mechanical repairs when necessary, service buses with gas, diesel fuel, and oil, check and fill tires and batteries, perform periodical safety drills as required by law, complete necessary reports upon request, maintain cleanliness of vehicle to ensure safe operating condition, and attend various meetings regarding safety, first aid, and training updates as required.

The ideal candidate will have a matric qualification, valid Code 10 driver's licence with PDP, 5 years' experience in a similar position, and excellent communication skills. A clear criminal record is also essential.

The estimated salary for this position is R350,000 - R450,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
