Job Title: Chief Accounting Officer

We are looking for a seasoned Chief Accounting Officer to join our team at The Talent Room. Based in Ottery, Cape Town, this is an excellent opportunity to lead our accounting functions as an Interim Financial Manager.

Salary: R1,200,000 - R1,500,000 per annum (negotiable based on experience)

This role is responsible for managing the full accounting cycle, overseeing day-to-day finance operations, and ensuring timely completion of monthly management accounts with balance sheet reconciliations. You will also provide insightful financial analysis and reporting for decision-making, assist with financial forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and review discrepancies to propose systems improvements.

About the Role:

  • Manage the full accounting cycle, including accounts payable & receivable, payroll, and financial statements.
  • Oversee day-to-day finance operations, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Ensure monthly management accounts are completed on-time-in-full with balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Provide insightful financial analysis and reporting for decision-making.
  • Assist with financial forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
  • Review discrepancies and propose systems improvements where necessary.

Requirements:

  • CA(SA) with 2 years post-article experience or AGA (SA) with 5 years of working experience in a similar role.
  • Technical knowledge of SAICA or AGA, focusing on financial reporting, tax, and legislative requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail, work ethic, and ability to deliver OTIF.
  • Manufacturing experience is beneficial, but not essential.
  • Experience with international trade operations is desired.
  • The candidate should be willing to think creatively and adapt to change.
  • People management experience is essential.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Knowledge of stock management and costings is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.
