This Lecturer position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the academic excellence of the University of Pretoria. As a specialist in veterinary reproduction, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, research, and clinical service.
Main Duties- Develop and deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, and workshops on reproductive health;
- Conduct research and publish papers in reputable scientific journals;
- Provide clinical service in the Onderstepoort Veterinary Academic Hospital, working closely with multidisciplinary teams;
- Supervise postgraduate students and contribute to their research and development;
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including owners, breeders, and industry professionals, to promote best practices in animal reproduction.
- A BVSc or BVMCh degree or equivalent professional veterinary qualification;
- Registration with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC) or registrable within a reasonable time;
- completion of a Master's programme – MMedVet degree (Gyn) or MSc veterinary science (with a focus on reproduction);
- a minimum of three years of veterinary clinical experience, predominantly in reproduction aspects (case log required);
- evidence of continued professional development or education.
- a Bachelor's degree (BVet Nursing or BSc) degree or equivalent professional veterinary nurse qualification;
- registration as a Veterinary nurse with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC);
- an MSc degree with a focus on companion or production reproduction aspects;
- a minimum of five years of veterinary nursing clinical experience (case log required);
- at least five full peer-reviewed papers in accredited scientific journals as senior or co-author.
- proven knowledge and competence in veterinary clinical work with an emphasis on reproduction aspects;
- research interest aligned with the position;
- commitment to obtaining a PhD in a field relative to veterinary reproduction for those without a PhD;
- strong language and communication skills, both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills;
- generic teaching competence, including proficiency in presentation, word-processing, and spreadsheet software.
