About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Professional to lead our team in ensuring the highest standards of health and safety across multiple sites.

Job Summary

The Head of Health role is a senior leadership position that requires strategic thinking, exceptional communication skills, and a strong understanding of health and safety regulations. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing proactive health and safety measures, managing resources effectively, and ensuring quality service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Health and Safety Strategies: Create and implement effective health and safety strategies that meet or exceed regulatory requirements and ensure the well-being of employees, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Lead Health and Safety Team: Manage and motivate a team of health and safety professionals, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Maintain Client Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded, and communicating regularly to provide updates on health and safety initiatives.
  • Conduct Risk Assessments: Identify potential hazards and conduct thorough risk assessments to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Develop and Implement Training Programs: Design and deliver training programs to educate employees on health and safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Monitor and Report Performance: Regularly monitor health and safety performance, identifying areas for improvement and reporting findings to management.
Requirements
  • Minimum 8-10 Years' Experience: Proven experience in health and safety, preferably in the mining industry.
  • Knowledge of ISO Compliance: Strong understanding of ISO compliance requirements, including 9001, 14001, 27001, and 23001.
  • Qualifications and Certifications: Possess relevant qualifications, such as SAMTRAC and risk management certifications.
  • Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make informed decisions.
  • Leadership and Interpersonal Skills: Proven leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships.
  • Computer Literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, and up-to-date with modern technology.
  • Valid Driver's License: Hold a valid unendorsed driver's license and be willing to use own transport for business purposes.
  • Contactable References: Provide contactable references, demonstrating a history of excellent work performance and behavior.
