Job Title: Senior Lecturer/Lecturer Private Law

Nelson Mandela University is seeking a highly qualified and experienced academic to join our Faculty of Law as a Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Private Law. The successful candidate will contribute to the academic project in the Faculty of Law through the facilitation of learning and teaching, research, academic and community engagement, and core functions of the faculty and department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach and facilitate learning in Private Law modules, including Law of Persons, Family Law, and Child Law, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Develop and deliver course materials, lectures, tutorials, and assessments for law modules.
  • Contribute to programme management and curriculum development.
  • Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in research projects.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the research strategy for the Department of Private Law.
  • Engage in independent research and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Perform administrative duties and other functions assigned by the Department or Faculty.
Requirements:

For Lecturer:

  • An LLM in a sub-discipline in Private Law.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a teaching, learning, supervision, and research environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce research outputs, including accepted publications in accredited journals.

For Senior Lecturer:

  • An LLD or PhD in a sub-discipline in Private Law or equivalent.
  • 1-5 years of experience in a teaching, learning, supervision, and research environment.
  • Proven record of accepted peer-reviewed publications and postgraduate supervision.
