Cost Accounting Professional

SA Metal is a large privately-owned metal recycling company with its headquarters in the Western Cape region and operations in the area. The Group has a vacancy for a highly analytical and dynamic individual to join the Finance team as a Cost Accounting Professional. The successful candidate will report directly to the Financial Manager and be based at our Head Office in Epping, the Western Cape region.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Maintain an integrated costing system/report with specified primary and secondary cost centers.
  2. Review and maintain data accumulation systems and controls needed for the cost accounting system and reporting within an accounting framework on a monthly basis.
  3. Analysis of expenses and ensure allocation to correct primary and secondary cost centers.
  4. Report on periodic variances and their causes, focusing in particular on spending variances.
  5. Provide reports and explanations to line management.
  6. Reviewing overhead costs to ensure correct allocation and reporting.
  7. Produce operational costing calculations – i.e. transport job costing and tender costing.
  8. Produce profitability calculation for manufacturing divisions.
  9. Capital project cost tracking.

Requirements include but are not limited to:

  • National Diploma in Cost Accounting majoring in Costing.
  • Previous experience in a Costing environment is essential.
  • Knowledge and/or experience working on AccPac, TM1 Cognos and Fraxion advantageous.
  • Advanced computer literacy – MS Office, high proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Manufacturing and/or Logistic background advantageous.
  • Emotionally matured and dynamic individual.
  • Ability to multi-task and pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to collaborate with a multi-department team.
  • Must have clear credit and criminal clearance.
