Our client is looking to strengthen their position in the renewables market and is in search of a Senior Technical Due Diligence Expert, experienced in Solar PV and/or Wind, to join their team. Based in Cape Town, with the flexibility to work remotely a few days a week, the role involves overseeing technical due diligence assignments and guiding clients through the financial close phase.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee technical due diligence assignments and guide clients through the financial close phase.
- Manage the preparation of EPC & O&M tenders and participate in contract negotiations.
- Lead feasibility studies and assess overall project design for potential enhancements.
- Manage and execute high-quality technical advisory projects.
- Offer technical insights from initial assessment to economic feasibility.
- Review project permits, designs, and key construction contracts.
- Assist Sponsors and Lenders throughout the Financial Close process.
- Collaborate with Legal, Insurance, and Financial Advisors.
- Evaluate technical risks and propose mitigation strategies for project CAPEX, OPEX, and revenues.
- Monitor project construction, commissioning, and acceptance phases.
- Oversee projects during the operational period.
- You hold permanent residency in South Africa.
- You are proficient in spoken and written English.
- You possess a Master's degree in engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- You boast 3-5 years' experience in the solar and/or wind industry, with at least 5 years overall in renewable energy, ideally in a consultancy role.
- You have extensive experience in technical due diligence on solar and/or wind projects, particularly with PV EPC, O&M, PPA, and Wind turbine contracts review (EPC, WTG supply contract, O&M, PPA) as Lender's/Owner's technical advisor.
- You bring experience in technical solar and wind turbine inspections and construction monitoring.
- Participation in reviewing on-site project acceptance testing/commissioning performed by suppliers.
- You have familiarity with Solar and Wind resource assessment, and/or financial models (an asset).
- You possess strong computer skills and can adapt to multiple software tools.
- You excel at managing multiple jobs concurrently, meeting deadlines, staying within budget, and ensuring quality.
- Your communication style is clear and concise, adaptable to various audiences.
- You are open to short trips in Africa if required.
- Driver's license B.
- Fluency in French and/or Portuguese.
