We are seeking a senior professional to fill the position of Head of Corporate Finance and Operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading our clients' financial operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across all financial processes.

This role offers the opportunity to drive strategic financial planning, implement robust internal controls, and foster a culture of excellence within our finance team.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering high-quality financial results, possessing excellent communication and leadership skills, and being proactive in identifying and mitigating financial risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Spearhead the monthly financial close process, ensuring accurate recording of costs, reviewing journal entries, and preparing comprehensive financial reports.
  2. Analyze and comment on monthly management accounts, investigating variances and communicating insights to key stakeholders.

Internal Controls & Governance:

  1. Implement and assess internal controls across the business, ensuring compliance with financial policies, standards, legislation, and regulations.
  2. Collaborate with control owners to develop and implement new controls, enhancing our Internal Control System.

Team Management:

  1. Supervise accounts receivable, accounts payable, and financial accounting teams, managing workload, setting KPIs, and providing training and development opportunities.
  2. Foster a high-performance team environment, focusing on growth and professional development.

Compliance & Audits:

  1. Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, and other experts to ensure successful audits, statutory compliance, and preparation of annual financial statements.
  2. Manage tax return data and submissions, ensuring timely and accurate filings.

Strategic Development:

  1. Participate in developing accounting policies and operational strategies, reviewing and implementing process and system changes.
  2. Focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices, actively reviewing and advising on financial processes.
  3. Work closely with business units to prepare budgets and forecasts, aligning financial strategies with organizational goals.
  4. Provide ad-hoc analysis and reporting as requested by the CFO, supporting informed decision-making.

Personal Characteristics:

  1. Excellent Communication Skills: Influence and communicate clearly across all levels and departments.
  2. Solution-Oriented: Proactive with a methodical approach to tasks, able to set priorities and clear targets.
  3. Leadership & Development: Passion for leading and developing high-performance teams.
  4. Confidentiality & Integrity: Commitment to ensuring financial integrity and handling confidential information with discretion.
  5. Qualifications: CA qualification or equivalent preferred; minimum NQF 7 (Bachelor's degree, Post Graduate Certificate, and B-tech).
  6. Experience: At least 7 years as an auditor or financial accounting manager, preferably at a Big 4 firm.
  7. Technical Skills: High-level accounting and IFRS knowledge, advanced SAP skills, and strong Excel proficiency.
  8. Industry Knowledge: Experience in the FMCG industry is a distinctive advantage.
  9. Analytical Skills: Highly numerate with excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
