Job Summary:

The Junior Accountant Role will be primarily responsible for accounting for all business transactions through processing and coordinating activities to achieve overall efficient operation of the department.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Process and record financial transactions by entering account information into the business system.
  • Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Update accounts receivable and issue invoices to customers.
  • Update accounts payable and perform reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
  • Update internal and external financial databases to ensure information is accurate and available when needed.
  • Process employee expense reports, verifying expenses are within company guidelines, correcting errors, questioning abnormal expenses, and entering into the financial system.
  • Research and resolve balancing items and issues.
  • Provide clerical and administrative support to the department.
  • Filing and records retention.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly close activities, annual audits, or financial reports.
  • Perform SARS VAT reconciliations and submissions.
  • Populate documentation for Reserve bank approvals and for SARS VAT audits.
  • Support statutory, tax, and internal audits.
  • Support various requests from local and World Area finance teams.
  • Ad-hoc and stretch assignments as needed.
  • The overall responsibility of this role is to ensure that accounts and financial reporting are managed in a responsible and sustainable manner, coordination and control of the workflow - ensuring deadlines and other commitments are met.
  • Functional Traffic Control (Allocation of work, and deadline delivery).

  • Cost Control (Minimize errors & investigates charges).
  • Problem solving (Management of unforeseen problem situations).
  • Time Management (Resource dedication to meet deadlines).

  • Driving Productivity (Forward planning to identify bottlenecks and plan accordingly).
  • Communication (Across all Company departments).

Who You Are?

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written in English and Portuguese.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and without day-to-day supervision.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Accounting or Finance Degree.
  • + years' experience in Accounting or Finance.
  • Must have full accounting knowledge and experience with working AP & GL.
  • Ability to research issues and follow through with appropriate resolution.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Pastel Partner V a must.
  • SAP GUI business system knowledge a plus.
  • Oracle experience.
  • Hyperion HFM financial reporting system experience is beneficial.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing setting.

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • Must have full accounting knowledge and experience with working AP & GL.
  • SARS Submissions, Vat Audits and reconciliations.
