About the Position

This exciting opportunity exists for a Risk Management Counselor to join the South African National Blood Service. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing risks and providing expert legal advice to ensure compliance with relevant laws, standards, and policies.

Responsibilities
  1. Risk Management: Identify and assess potential litigation risks within the organization. Manage litigation and explore mechanisms to minimize costs.
  2. Legal Advice: Provide expert legal advice to the organization, its Board, committees, and stakeholders. Ensure compliance with relevant laws, standards, policies, and codes in operations and dealings with stakeholders.
  3. Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts to minimize risk exposure for the organization.
  4. Training: Provide training to staff on relevant laws and regulations.

You will also manage SANBS tip-off notifications, coordinate investigations, and provide quarterly updates to EXCO regarding tip-offs received and status updates.

Requirements
  • Education: Admission as attorney/advocate is advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in a related field, preferably in a healthcare or blood service environment.
