Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled lecturer to join our team at the Stellenbosch campus, specializing in IT Network Design and Administration.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and managing weekly classes, preparing and delivering learning content, and developing learning materials as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lecturing:
    • Plan and manage weekly classes
    • Prepare and deliver learning content in a contact and online learning environment
    • Develop learning materials, including assessment tools, as required
    • Organize additional workshops and field trips when necessary
    • Mark assessments for learners and provide feedback within the stipulated marking and moderation cycle deadlines
  • General Academic Administration:
    • Record student attendance
    • Identify students at risk
    • Set up additional support for students as needed
    • Record student results
    • Participate in campus staff meetings to address logistical issues and stay updated on academic development, orientation, and new teaching and learning techniques
    • Attend open days to share module and program information with prospective learners and parents

Requirements:

  • Expertise in IT Network Design: A strong understanding of network architecture, protocols, topologies, security, and optimization is essential
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in relevant networking technologies and tools
  • Problem-Solving: The ability to analyze complex networking issues, troubleshoot problems, and develop effective solutions is crucial
  • Teaching and Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication is vital
  • Interpersonal Skills: Building positive relationships with students, colleagues, and industry professionals
  • Adaptability: The ability to learn and adapt to new technologies, trends, and methodologies is essential
  • Industry Experience: Practical experience in IT network design and implementation is highly valued
  • Research Skills: Staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in networking and related technologies through continuous learning and research
  • Certifications: Relevant industry certifications are an advantage
  • Time Management: Strong time management skills are required to balance lecture preparation, grading, student interactions, and professional development
  • Collaboration: The ability to work with other faculty members, department heads, and administrators to coordinate course content and ensure a cohesive educational experience for students

Qualifications:

  • Minimum NQF-7 qualification in Networking or a relevant field
  • Microsoft and Cisco certifications are an advantage
  • Previous experience in facilitating is an advantage
  • Extensive knowledge of Computer systems
  • Extensive knowledge of Databases
  • Extensive knowledge of Networks
