Responsibilities
  • Talent Acquisition: Design job specifications, post vacancies, shortlist candidates, conduct interviews, arrange psychometrics, and select suitable candidates.
  • Onboarding and Offboarding: Ensure staff are correctly onboarded with HR documentation and digital filing processes are completed.
  • HR Admin: Handle HR admin tasks, including time and attendance, leave capturing, promotions, transfers, salary advances, POs, UI19, certificates of service, etc.
  • HR Initiatives: Implement various HR programs, such as EWP, internal memorandums, PPE management, stock control, and budget oversight.
  • Talent Management: Work with managers to maintain adequate staffing levels across all depots, ensuring operational continuity and successful integration into company culture.
  • Staff Management: Manage a team of over 100 employees across 7 geographical areas, including payroll administrators, cleaners, laundry staff, canteen workers, and HR assistants.
  • Contract Management: Create offers of employment, letters of appointment, and employment contracts for permanent and contracted staff.
  • Relationship Management: Liaise with external providers regarding training, on-site clinics, and temporary staff.
  • Employment Relations: Facilitate disciplinary actions, draft warnings, issue suspension letters, compile hearing packs, and represent the company up to arbitration.
  • Performance Management: Address poor performance when required.
  • Training and Development: Assist in designing and developing training materials for staff.
  • Time and Attendance: Manage time and attendance data for payroll input, ensuring accurate overtime and Sunday processing via the EPR system.
  • Workplace Skills Plans: Oversee training aspects, including programs, refresher courses, learnerships, and data capture to ensure WSP/ATR compliance and MG obtainment.
  • Employment Equity: Manage equity functions to ensure full compliance with the EEA.
  • Health and Safety: Act as s16 manager, ensuring health and safety requirements are met, including representative appointments and certifications under OHSA.
  • Reporting: Present monthly reports to the CEO and senior management team on leave provision, staff turnover, absenteeism, training, CCMA cases/pending DEs, and other HR data.
  • SAGE VIP: Oversee payroll function, managing relevant input and signing off on monthly payrolls.
  • Benefits: Add staff to provident funds/group risk policies upon onboarding and administer discovery death/disability claims and provident withdrawals upon termination, adhering to company policy.
  • Terminations: Manage terminations according to offboarding processes and legislative requirements.
