Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Control Instrumentation Technician to join our team at Staff Solutions Recruitment. This is a challenging role that requires a strong background in electrical and instrumentation maintenance, with a focus on ensuring the efficient operation of industrial equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide first-line maintenance support to ensure 24-hour coverage, enhancing plant availability, product quality, and cost.
  • Perform a combination of electrical and instrumentation tasks, including standard and shutdown schedules, and tasks.
  • Test spares that have been repaired, maintain store items (spares), and identify and manage LRUs.
  • Work closely with other Instrumentation Techs, Electricians, and Millwrights to ensure seamless operations.

In addition to your technical skills, you will also be responsible for implementing optimisation and new capital projects, as well as performing standby duties.

Requirements:
  • A minimum qualification of N6 diploma, S4 or BTech in Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering, with at least 5 years of experience in a metals manufacturing industry: furnaces, hot and cold rolling, and/or other heavy engineering industries.
  • Experience with programming and fault finding on Siemens PLCs (Siemens S5, S7, or 1500, TIA portal) and AC and DC variable speed Drives (ABB/Siemens/Nidec).
  • Familiarity with SCADA Systems (Intouch & WinCC) and process instrumentation, including PID control loops.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
Compensation:

We offer a competitive salary of approximately $80,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
