We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Manager to join our team at Ikwezi Mining. In this role, you will oversee various aspects of financial management, ensuring accuracy in reporting and contributing to strategic financial decision making.

Key Responsibilities:General:
  • Implement accounting systems and processes for the organization, ensuring efficient and effective financial management.
  • Oversee the duties and performance of the accounting team, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Detect and prevent financial frauds that may arise, maintaining the integrity of our financial systems.
  • Liaise with auditors and other stakeholders, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and reporting standards.
Financial Reporting:
  • Prepare and analyze accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with accounting principles, providing insights into our financial performance.
  • Prepare and present monthly management accounts, including income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, and ratio analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and reporting standards, maintaining the accuracy and reliability of our financial data.
Month-End and Year-End Close:
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliation of accounts and preparation of adjusting journal entries.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary financial data, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
General Ledger Management:
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies or variances in financial records, maintaining the integrity of our financial systems.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Contribute to the budgeting and forecasting processes by providing accurate financial data and analysis.
  • Assist in monitoring actual performance against budgeted figures, identifying areas for improvement.
Financial Analysis:
  • Conduct financial analyses to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to management based on financial data, informing strategic financial decision making.
Audit Support:
  • Support internal and external audit processes by preparing audit schedules, providing necessary documentation, and addressing auditor inquiries.
  • Implement audit recommendations to enhance internal controls, maintaining the integrity of our financial systems.
Tax Compliance:
  • Assist in the preparation of tax returns and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
  • Collaborate with tax professionals to address tax-related inquiries and support tax planning.
Fixed Assets Management:
  • Manage the accounting for fixed assets, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposal.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date records of fixed asset transactions, maintaining the integrity of our financial systems.
  • Review the accuracy of wear and tear schedules, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and reporting standards.
Financial Systems Maintenance:
  • Oversee the maintenance and integrity of financial systems and databases, ensuring efficient and effective financial management.
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments for system enhancements or upgrades, maintaining the accuracy and reliability of our financial data.
Team Leadership and Training:
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to accountants, ensuring timely work execution and maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Conduct training sessions on accounting processes and procedures, enhancing the skills and knowledge of our accounting team.

We require a Chartered Accountant with 5-6 years of work experience or a Financial Manager with an Honours Degree and 6 years+ experience. Mining experience is an advantage, and a good understanding of IFRS, SARS, and SARB Regulations is essential. The successful candidate will have substantial experience in accounting roles, with a focus on financial reporting and analysis, and proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
