Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Engineer to join our team at Lycopodium. As a key member of our project delivery team, you will be responsible for assisting in the management of overall project activities and resources to produce results in alignment with project / study requirements in a timely, quality and cost-effective manner.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Project Management Support: Assist the Project Management team to ensure the quality of deliverables is aligned with the needs of the project / study, the company objectives, the requirements of the client, and meets regulatory requirements.
  2. Project Control Activities: Assist with project control activities including scheduling, forecasting, and other deliverables to a consistently high standard.
  3. Contract Administration: Assist with contract administration activities as assigned by the Project Manager, including the preparation of contract scope of works and commercial tender reviews.
  4. Procurement and Inspection: Assist with procurement, inspection, and expediting activities to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of project requirements.
  5. Site Engineer Duties: Carry out assigned project activities, including site engineer duties, in a manner that prioritizes safety, environment, community, and industrial relations.
  6. Project Schedule and Budget Management: Assist in regular maintenance of the project / study schedule and budget, including change management.
  7. Investigations and Reporting: Undertake investigations and prepare reports as directed by the Project Manager.
  8. Quality Management: Participate in the Project quality management process, including carrying out inspections at the vendor's premises and reviewing vendor quality management.
  9. Meetings and Communication: Attend and record proceedings at progress and other project meetings, and advise the Project Manager or Manager of Projects on matters that negatively affect project goals.
Requirements
  1. Tertiary Education: Tertiary level education in Engineering, preferably with a Mechanical emphasis.
  2. Industry Experience: At least 10 years' proven industry experience, 5 years of which in project engineering, preferably in a minerals processing or project delivery environment.
  3. Citizenship or Residency: South African Citizen or Permanent Resident, Cape Town based.
  4. Technical Skills: Solid technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in the Microsoft suite of software packages, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  5. Contract Administration: Demonstrate knowledge of contract standards and a sound background in contract administration duties.
  6. Teamwork and Communication: Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work efficiently in a team and knowledge-sharing environment.
  7. Personal Qualities: Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment, with a strict practice of confidentiality, personal responsibility, and discretion.
  8. Professional Development: Demonstrate a commitment to continued professional development and improvement.
