Job Title: Renewable Energy Project Developer

Engineered Sourcing is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Renewable Energy Project Developer to join our team. As a key member of our project development team, you will be responsible for identifying and originating new renewable energy projects, managing commercial negotiations, and securing necessary permits and licenses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and originate new renewable energy projects, including conducting desktop analysis, site visits, and negotiations with landowners.
  • Manage commercial negotiations for land lease agreements, servitudes, environmental impact assessments, and regulatory approvals.
  • Secure necessary permits, licenses, and authorizations for renewable energy projects, interacting with government departments and regulatory authorities.
  • Manage internal costs and external consultant costs in accordance with development budgets.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders, including project opponents and Interested and Affected Parties.
  • Implement risk mitigation strategies to secure permits and licenses.
  • Contribute to the coordination of project due diligences, development plans, and timelines.
  • Foster working relationships with external consultants, advisors, regulatory authorities, landowners, and joint venture partners.
  • Monitor market developments and identify potential opportunities and threats to the company's strategy.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (B Tech, BSC science/engineering, B Com).
  • At least 5 years of professional experience as a renewable energy Project Developer in South Africa.
Technical Competencies:
  • Project management.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Contract management.
  • Knowledge of rural South African context, SA administrations, and environmental law.
  • Sound knowledge of MS 365 Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams.
Health and Safety Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the health and safety of employees, those under control, and those affected by work undertaken.
  • Conduct risk assessments and communicate mitigation measures.
  • Ensure individuals have necessary understanding, competence, and application of requirements to work safely.
