Job Description

The Head of Financial Operations role is responsible for providing strategic and operational direction to the finance team at Gilead Sciences South Africa (Pty) Ltd., with a focus on ensuring efficient running of the unit and accurate reporting of accounts.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the Finance Team: Direct and manage the finance team, ensuring they are a strategic partner to the business and support the MD and Executives in delivering strategic initiatives.
  2. Financial Planning and Analysis: Develop and implement financial plans, manage financial tasks, and ensure that finances are used beneficially and investments and finances comply with regulations.
  3. Accounting and Reporting: Oversee the preparation of financial records, ensure accurate reconciliations between operational and accounting systems, and perform balance sheet reconciliations.
  4. Risk Management and Audit: Identify and mitigate financial risks, manage the external audit process, and provide feedback and address audit regularly with Exco.
  5. Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support business decision-making.
Requirements
  • Education: B. Com Honours
  • Qualifications: Qualified would be advantageous and preferable
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years' experience in the Employee Benefit Industry, especially retirement funds accounting and auditing
  • Skills and Knowledge: Excellent knowledge of Accounting Regulations & Procedures, IFRS, Tax, Auditing, and experience in Accounting Software and Payroll Software
