Job Purpose

To provide exceptional service to staff and personnel in the staff mess room, ensuring a clean and safe dining environment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. To assist with the service of all meals in the staff dining room, maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
  2. To transport used dishes from the staff dining room to the dishwash area and return clean dishes to the dining room, adhering to MSC sanitation standards.
  3. To maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the staff dining room and adjoining areas, following established protocols.
  4. Personnel in this position are required to perform all duties in accordance with MSC sanitation standards.
  5. To prepare the staff dining room for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, ensuring timely and efficient service.
  6. To offer a full dining room service for staff, utilizing guest menus, flatware, and napkins, adhering to company standards.
  7. To transport food from the guest galley to the staff dining room, ensuring hot food is served hot and cold food is served cold.
  8. To maintain the dining room in a clean and organized state, with clean tables and tablecloths, and napkins available for each meal.
  9. After service, to clean the dining room and serving area, utilizing the HACCP checklist to ensure the highest level of sanitation.
Qualifications
  1. Minimum 12 months of 5-star hotel or restaurant service experience (excluding job training), or at least one completed satisfactory contract in a similar position on a cruise vessel.
  2. High school graduate.
  3. Proven working knowledge of high-volume, high-class restaurant operations.
  4. Understanding of company sanitation protocols related to food safety and cleaning sanitation in accommodation and food areas.
  5. Good understanding of the correct use of cleaning chemicals in food areas.
  6. Proven and demonstrated understanding of the 3-bucket system.
  7. Able to work efficiently at high speed, in a partly unsupervised environment.

  1. Valid South African Passport.
