About the Role

KPMG-SouthAfrica is seeking a seasoned Senior Manager - Infrastructure for its Pan-African Infrastructure Advisory team. This is a unique opportunity to join a leading advisory firm and contribute to closing the infrastructure gap in Africa.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will support the Africa Infrastructure leadership team in delivering infrastructure solutions across the project lifecycle, with a focus on strategy, development, procurement, financing, construction, operations, and investment. Key duties will include:
  • Assisting in day-to-day engagement management on specific projects, covering various infrastructure sub-sectors and stages of the project lifecycle.
  • Providing leadership, direction, and guidance to senior associate and associate team members.
  • Developing and presenting client materials, including status reports, project reports, and presentations.
  • Monitoring project risks, budgets, schedules, work quality, scope, and client deliverables.
  • Contributing to hands-on delivery of core analysis responsibilities, including primary and secondary research, quantitative data collection and analysis, financial modeling, business analysis, and application of methodologies to achieve client objectives.

Technical Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:
  • Strong technical skills in project strategy and development analysis, including infrastructure planning and strategy, feasibility, business case, and market analysis.
  • Experience in procurement options analysis, project risk assessment, project governance, and project management frameworks.
  • Commercial structuring of complex contracts, contract management, and coordinating legal, financial, and technical teams.
  • Procurement and process management, bid evaluation, project implementation advice, and project controls.
  • Working experience in various infrastructure core sectors and stages of the infrastructure project lifecycle.
  • Experience with alternative contract types, such as EPC and PPP.
  • Experience in business development, including maintaining a pipeline of advisory project pursuits, anticipating market trends, and articulating sector/country knowledge.

  • Excellent analytical skills, including transaction structuring, value for money assessments, economic cost-benefit assessments, and public sector comparator analysis.
  • Experience managing project teams and working with various stakeholders, including public sector, private sector, consultants, and colleagues.
  • Goal-driven and results-oriented, with a strong commitment to delivering results.
  • Multi-cultural skills, with the ability to operate across multiple jurisdictions and uphold cultural diversity.
  • Resilience and tenacity, with the ability to sustain motivation and commitment to goals.

Education and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:
  • An undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, development finance, engineering, or a similar field.
  • A professional qualification, such as Chartered Accountant (CA/CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or a Master's degree in finance or economics.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in management consulting, commercial banking, private equity, development finance institutions, or multilaterals, with a focus on the infrastructure sector.
