Job Title: Technology Transfer Manager

Nelson Mandela University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technology Transfer Manager to join our Innovation Office team.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and supporting the university's innovation and technology transfer strategic and operational objectives. This includes coordinating and developing the university's IP-related project pipeline, managing statutory protection for specific technologies, and undertaking market and industry analysis to identify potential commercialization partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and develop the university's IP-related project pipeline
  • Manage all aspects of the process for securing statutory protection for specific technologies
  • Manage the Seed Fund Project Portfolio and required submissions
  • Undertake market and industry analysis of IP to identify potential commercialization partners
  • Prepare proposals and secure funding for IP development
  • Manage NIPMO-required submissions
  • Support the Director with the commercialisation of the university's IP Portfolio
  • Manage receipt of royalties or other consideration and disbursement to the university and inventors
Requirements
  • M+4 in a technology-based scientific field or engineering
  • A relevant masters degree and/or a commercial qualification recommended
  • A minimum of five years relevant experience - project management and commercialisation experience
  • Experience in a higher education, government or funding agency environment
  • Knowledge of the functions and role of a university technology transfer office is essential
  • Valid drivers license
