JenRec Recruitment is a dynamic recruitment agency that provides top talent to leading companies in the tech industry. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Development Engineer to join our team.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be part of a design team responsible for developing embedded software and firmware for digital electronic hardware. They will work on projects involving computing appliances, flight control units, and other complex sub-systems.

The Employee will be responsible for:

  • Forming part of a design team developing embedded software for digital electronic hardware;
  • Designing, developing, implementing, and verifying systems, subsystems, and associated software and firmware;
  • Playing a major role in generating outputs for projects, including design, testing, documentation, production, and verification artefacts;
  • Implementing system engineering processes, plans, and policies as applicable to a specific project;
  • Performing minor support roles within the company as required.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Suitable Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering (BSc Eng/BEng), or equivalent;
  • Proficiency in C or C++ programming language;
  • Linux proficiency;
  • FPGA development proficiency and/or experience;
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant industry or post-graduate experience.

Recommended Skills and Experience

The following skills and experience are highly recommended:

  • VHDL programming experience;
  • Hardware debugging tools (logic analysers and scopes) proficiency and experience;
  • Python proficiency and experience.

The ideal candidate will possess the following general skills:

  • Ability to learn quickly and absorb new information rapidly;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate on large projects;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and PCB layouts;
  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as UART;
  • Familiarity with safety critical and industry best practices;
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills;
  • High standard of communication skills in English (both verbal and written).
