SAP MES Consultant Job Description

We are seeking an experienced SAP MES Consultant to join our team at LINKFIELDS INNOVATIONS (PTY) LTD. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing processes and systems, with a proven track record of implementing and supporting SAP MES solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • SAP MES Implementation:
    • Lead the implementation and configuration of SAP MES solutions to improve manufacturing operations and enhance productivity.
    • Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets for SAP MES projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and document requirements, ensuring seamless integration with other enterprise systems.
  • System Integration:
    • Ensure seamless integration of SAP MES with ERP systems (e.g., SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA) and other enterprise applications, leveraging industry-standard protocols and interfaces.
    • Develop and maintain interfaces between SAP MES and shop floor systems (e.g., PLCs, SCADA), ensuring real-time data exchange and minimal disruption to manufacturing operations.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Analyze current manufacturing processes and identify areas for improvement, leveraging Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
    • Implement best practices and standard operating procedures within SAP MES, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Conduct process re-engineering and optimization studies, leveraging data analytics and business intelligence tools.
  • Support and Maintenance:
    • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for SAP MES applications, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal system performance.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, leveraging technical expertise and industry knowledge.
    • Train end-users and provide technical support as needed, ensuring seamless adoption and optimal system utilization.
  • Project Management:
    • Manage SAP MES projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
    • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure project alignment with business goals, leveraging project management methodologies and tools.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including functional specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
    • Generate regular reports on system performance, project progress, and key metrics, leveraging business intelligence tools and data analytics.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in SAP MES implementation and support.
    • Strong background in manufacturing processes and systems, with a proven track record of implementing and supporting SAP MES solutions.
    • Experience with SAP ECC or SAP S/4HANA integration, leveraging industry-standard protocols and interfaces.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in SAP MES configuration and customization, leveraging industry-standard tools and methodologies.
    • Knowledge of manufacturing execution systems and shop floor processes, with a strong understanding of industry standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA, and other shop floor control systems, leveraging industry-standard protocols and interfaces.
    • Understanding of database management and SQL, with a strong understanding of data analytics and business intelligence tools.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a strong ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, with a strong ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
    • Project management skills, with a strong ability to manage multiple priorities and ensure timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP MES certification, with a strong understanding of industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with Industry 4.0 technologies and digital transformation initiatives, leveraging industry-standard tools and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies, with a strong understanding of industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Working Conditions:
