SHEQ Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled SHEQ Manager to lead our client's team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving safety, quality, and compliance standards across multiple facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain BRCGS Packaging Materials and SEDEX certification to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Audit and report on BRC compliance at other facilities, including JHB, Busmark, and Range Road, to ensure consistency and adherence to regulations.
  • Oversee laboratory operations to ensure consistent product quality and compliance with food laws and regulations.
  • Handle customer complaints and non-conformances in a timely and professional manner.
  • Manage document control processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Stay up-to-date with food laws and regulations, ensuring facility and product compliance.
  • Provide actionable solutions to complex quality and food safety issues, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Participate in meetings with the Production Management Team to improve quality and sanitation standards.
  • Coordinate product trials and document results to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct hygiene, GMP, sanitation, and safety inspections to identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage environmental monitoring, calibration, and pest control to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Handle the Health and Safety budget, including expenditures, to ensure effective resource allocation.
  • Draft, implement, and maintain the health, safety, and environmental management system to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) analysis to identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure health and safety compliance and advise on SHE issues to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Relevant degree from an accredited institution.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of BRC standards and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Syspro, maintenance, and quality assurance.
  • Certified training in HACCP and internal auditing.
  • Extensive knowledge of safety management systems and regulatory requirements.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a results-driven mindset.
