Power Transmission Engineer

At Engineered Sourcing, we are seeking a skilled Power Transmission Engineer to join our team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and design HV power transmission and distribution infrastructure from 33kV up to 765kV.
- Responsible for handling multiple projects and preparing and providing guidance in the development of the engineering deliverables for electrical substation projects including layouts and drawings, selection of substation equipment, equipment and construction specifications and all associated electrical calculations and studies.
- Perform the necessary calculations and studies, including power systems studies on utility and industrial/commercial power transmission and distribution systems.
- Development of project design documentation, technical specifications, perform concept and/or detail design layouts, and providing a detail design package that complies with applicable local, international and client specifications and standards.
- Engage with other project stakeholders and team members and coordinate overall design packages and requirements.
- Provide direction and guidance to junior engineers, drafters, and designers.
- Ensure design schedules are met including providing regular status feedback to business unit principals and project managers.
- Coordinate and review technical contract documents and perform contractor design reviews.
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to Health, Safety and the Environment by following the Company's Health, Safety & Environment Policy, and applying Safety Management Systems.
- Identify and analyse design changes, modify design drawings and documents accordingly.
- Manage, attend and participate in FAT and SAT planning and execution.
- Provide engineering support during construction.
- Resolving and responding to technical queries from contractors.
- Plan and coordinate pre‐commissioning and commissioning activities.
- Attend and contribute to site and project technical meetings as necessary.
- Final handover of documentation as necessary.
- Prepare expressions of interests (EOIs), tenders and request for quotations.
- Assists and participates in business development and company marketing activities.
- Adherence to the requirements of Quality Management System.
- Participate in continuous improvement of processes and Quality Management System.
Requirements:
- BSc Eng or B.Eng in Electrical Engineering with 7 years relevant post qualification technical experience
- B Tech in Electrical Engineering with 10 years relevant post qualification technical experience at engineering level
- Professional registration
- ECSA registration as a Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist
Skills and Competencies:
- Detail knowledge of power utilization equipment (primary plant equipment) and related structural, foundation and bulk civil requirements.
- Project administration and coordination skills.
- Effective oral and written Communication skills
- Problem solving and team working skills.
- Computer literacy with sound knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Sound knowledge of Bentley Microstation.
- National and Internationals engineering codes and standards.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Analytical skills.
- Self-management and leadership skills.
- Presentation and report writing skills.
- Experience in power utility industry (Eskom experience is essential).
- Valid South African driver's licence with no endorsements and their own transportation.
- Desired additional skills and knowledge.

- Proficient in principles of project management.
- DigSilent
- PSSE.
- MS Projects.
- Experience in Protection, Metering, Telecommunication and Control systems (secondary plant systems).
- Supplementary qualification or experience in Project Management.
