Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled Data Scientist to join our Johannesburg team. This individual will be responsible for optimizing our legal content search services through advanced machine learning techniques. By leveraging LexisNexis datasets, the Data Scientist will refine models to enhance performance and accuracy. Essential Responsibilities:

  • Benchmark and optimize embedding models and reranking models for legal content search services.
  • Fine-tune models using LexisNexis datasets to improve overall performance and accuracy.
  • Work closely with the French team and report to a manager based in France.
  • Analyze and interpret complex data to provide actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Stay current with advancements in machine learning and NLP technologies.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of processes, methodologies, and results.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch and Hugging Face.
  • Proficiency in Python programming language.
  • AWS services and cloud-based machine learning expertise.
  • Knowledge of embedding models and reranking algorithms.
  • Experience with legal content or similar domain-specific data.
  • Understanding of data visualization tools and techniques.
  • Fluency in the French language.
