Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Manager to join our team at Recreation Africa Leisure Industries (Pty)Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of our properties, ensuring that they are safe, clean, and well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies and plans aligned with the company's vision and goals.
  • Manage and supervise a team of maintenance staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the property to identify areas in need of maintenance and repair.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules for buildings, landscaping, and common areas.
  • Arrange for, supervise, and repair work, including but not limited to building repairs, painting, plumbing repairs, electrical fencing, security booms, staff ablution facilities, and lighting maintenance.
  • Maintain an updated inventory of all equipment and tools used on the property.
  • Monitor that all maintenance and repairs are done in compliance with relevant regulations and building codes.
  • Repairing equipment and machinery.
  • Sign off on work completed by service providers before payment and ensure that the relevant documentation for warranties is provided to Management.
  • Plan, design, and maintain the landscaping and grounds of the property.
  • Regularly maintain and clear any vegetation or obstructions around the electrical fence to ensure optimal functioning.
  • Develop and implement a cleaning schedule for common areas, including staircases, balconies, pathways, parking, lawns, and all other common areas.
  • Ensure that the bin area is clean, tidy, and hygienic, and oversee waste management.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the property to identify any signs of pest activity or infestation.
  • Implement control measures to prevent pests from entering the property and to eliminate existing infestations.
Requirements
  • 5 – 10 years relevant Maintenance / Facility Management experience.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong technical skills with the ability to perform various repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Outlook (managing schedules, budgets and communication).
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A valid Driver's license.
  • Honest and trustworthy beyond approach
  • Presentable / Professional appearance and well spoken
  • Team player who leads by example
  • High energy levels coupled with a positive attitude
  • Familiar with hospitality industry standards
  • Knowledge of best practices for safety and sanitation
  • Effective communication with members of staff as well as Guest of the Hotel
  • Hands-on-Problem-Solving approach and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
