About the Role

We are looking for a skilled professional to manage our debt portfolio effectively. As a Debt Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely implementation of approved transactions and proactive management of Business Partners. Your primary goal will be to enhance portfolio management by focusing on support, value addition, and growth, while optimizing cashflow collection where relevant and protecting our organisation's interests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Portfolio Management: Manage allocated portfolios of business partners, some of which may be complex, technical, and/or high-value business partners classified under the Small Debt Segment.
  • Business Partner Handover: Ensure proper handover of business partners from respective SBU teams, discussing key priorities and risks during handover meetings.
  • SPPI Impairment Reviews: Periodically conduct SPPI (e.g., loans) impairment reviews and prepare business partner credit quality assessment reports in accordance with organisational guidelines and policies.
  • Performance Monitoring: Identify business partners with underperformance issues, develop frameworks for regular client visits, diagnostics analyses, and provide specialised assistance and intervention when necessary.
  • Cashflow Collection: Focus on collection inflows from business partners and monitor forecasts against actual performance.
  • Financial Analysis: Analyse financial information from allocated business partners, assessing the need for initiating intervention based on analysis.
  • Value Maximisation: Maximize our organisation's value and limit losses by being considerate of eventual exiting of investments where relevant.
  • Departmental Initiatives: Participate in departmental and organisational-wide initiatives linked to the department's function.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed as a Debt Portfolio Manager at TalentCru, you must possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • BCom Accounting with postgraduate degree or similar 4-year undergraduate qualification with finance experience.
  • CA (SA) would be an advantage.
  • At least 5-8 years of relevant experience in post-investment monitoring/portfolio management or managing key aspects of business partner relationships.
  • Experience and knowledge in portfolio management, restructurings, due diligence, drawdowns processes.
  • Accounting/IFRS9, financial modelling, and analysis experience will be advantageous.
  • Skills in analysing and interpreting financial statements, sound knowledge of business and diversity of risks affecting businesses, good understanding of different types of security, and economic trends.
  • Project management experience will be advantageous.
  • Knowledge and/or understanding of BP strategic diagnostics and how to help BP execute value levers.
