Job Description

A trusted leader in product sales, distribution, maintenance, and engineering services is sought to support critical industries across Africa.

The ideal candidate must have a proven track record of delivering superior performance through sustainable business practices. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing the company vision and strategy;
  • Driving business development, market expansion efforts, and country growth across all sectors while managing stakeholder relationships;
  • Driving operational, financial, and safety performance;
  • A deep understanding of market forces and adapting the organisation's tactics, processes, and plans for sustainability during challenging market conditions;
  • Ensuring client-centricity in products and solutions provided by the company.
Core Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for strategic, operational, and commercial leadership, including different functional report lines: London Group, local board, and empowerment shareholders.

Key duties include:

  • In consultation with the Board, refining and improving strategic goals and objectives;
  • Providing direction and leadership towards the achievement of the Group philosophy, mission, strategy, and annual goals and objectives;
  • Guiding the Board to fulfil its governance function;
  • Day-to-day management, including operational, technical delivery, commercial, and financial management, while overseeing sustainable business growth;
  • Managing subsidiaries in consultation with each subsidiary's Board of Directors.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, candidates must possess:

  • A relevant bachelor's degree or related qualification from a recognised university;
  • Further studies in business management (an MBA would be an advantage);
  • At least 15 years' experience within an engineering or related field;
  • At least 10 years' experience in senior management, with at least 5 years in senior roles for consulting, advisory, or related knowledge-based businesses as Managing Director, Chief Executive, Operations Director, or Executive Director;
  • Experience dealing with Board responsibilities and functions;
  • A private sector background and experience leading a business with a billion/s turnover;
  • A record of sales generation and market development.

  • Well-developed leadership, management, strategy, business development, and personal mastery skills;
  • A deep understanding of company finances and repositioning critical financial drivers to deliver top percentile financial performance;
  • Drive operational performance to lead a safe and secure environment;
  • Solution development and capability deployment to handle complexity;
  • The ability to lead and implement company-wide programmes;
  • Excellent communication skills to develop customer-centric solutions while building customer relationships;
  • A proven record in developing people at an organisational level;
  • Experience in legal aspects typically associated with private enterprises;
  • Managing and mitigating risks at enterprise level.
