Role Overview

The ZAQ Group of Companies is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Financial Controller to join its team, responsible for assisting in the management of statutory and regulatory reporting functions for a UK project.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Delivering accurate and timely financial information to support business decision-making.
  • Working closely with the senior finance team to ensure effective management of financial reporting processes.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to improve financial performance and control.
  • Managing and coordinating the preparation of Group VAT returns for the UK market.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards.
  • Communicating effectively with stakeholders, including debt providers and company owners.
  • Providing financial modeling support for Regulatory Report preparation by the Finance team.
  • Contributing to the development of financial policies and procedures.
  • Participating in strategic and compliance-based projects to drive business growth and improvement.
  • Coordinating External and Internal Audit activities to ensure compliance and risk management.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess:

  • Qualification as a chartered accountant (CA(SA), CIMA, SAIPA).
  • 2-5 years' experience in financial management, preferably in the UK or northern hemisphere financial services environment.
  • Solutions-oriented individual with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work accurately and challenge data sources.
  • Able to manage junior finance colleagues and develop their progression.
  • Able to work remotely.
