Mid-Senior Level Accounting Position

Join the ZAQ Group of Companies as an experienced Assistant Financial Controller. In this role, you will assist in the management of statutory and regulatory reporting functions for a UK project and work closely with the senior finance team to deliver financial Management Information (MI).

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in delivering statutory, management, and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Lead the implementation of new reporting standards applicable from 1 January 2026
  • Work with the senior finance team to deliver financial Management Information (MI)
  • Prepare Group VAT returns in the UK
  • Review reporting schedules and accounting inputs produced by finance colleagues
  • Review final outputs by Finance Operations and Revenue Reconciliations Teams
  • Co-prepare Board and Management Meeting papers and attend meetings as required
  • Report to debt providers and company owners
  • Support financial modelling for Regulatory Reports prepared by the Finance team
  • Participate in strategic and compliance-based projects
  • Coordinate External and Internal Audit activities
  • Advise the Group Financial Controller on technical accounting and regulatory matters impacting the business
  • Contribute to accounting policy and input into the budget/forecasting process for the business

Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant (CA(SA), CIMA, SAIPA)
  • 2-5 years' experience post articles
  • Experience in the UK financial services environment beneficial
  • Solutions-oriented individual
  • Strong technical accounting, regulatory, and financial skills
  • Excellent financial applications and systems skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work accurately and challenge data sources
  • Ability to manage junior finance colleagues and contribute to their development
  • Ability to work remotely
