Key Responsibilities- Formulate a comprehensive risk appetite statement for CIB, in collaboration with Credit, to ensure alignment with the bank's overall risk management framework.
- Develop and maintain a strategic portfolio positioning framework, ensuring optimal capital and liquidity allocation across various asset classes.
- Collaborate with Balance Sheet Management and Treasury to optimize capital and liquidity management, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and bank-wide risk management policies.
- Bridge the gap between Client/Franchise strategy and Product strategy, ensuring alignment with the bank's overall business objectives.
- Conduct macroeconomic forecasting, scenario planning, and impact assessment to inform portfolio management decisions.
- Interpret data against portfolio principles and guide risk-in and risk-mitigation strategies to ensure optimal portfolio performance.
- Develop and implement portfolio strategies to enhance beta protection and alpha generation.
- Provide strategic guidance on primary and secondary structuring, ensuring optimal portfolio optimization.
- Lead planning and stress testing for all CIB Banking books, ensuring robust risk management and compliance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders through regular communication, collaboration, and governance compliance.
- Establish and nurture external stakeholder/client relationships through networking, conferencing, and regular contact.
- Ensure regulatory compliance by conducting sanctions checks and adhering to regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborate with Risk functions, Balance Sheet Management, Treasury, Finance, Coverage, and Product to provide a portfolio assessment of credit risk and associated impact to ROE, RoRWA, EP, and NRA.
- Position the target portfolio against changing dynamics and macro environments, ensuring optimal portfolio performance.
- Ensure compliance with Nedbank internal risk policies and mandates.
- Improve team performance through on-the-job training, knowledge sharing, and identifying suitable formal and informal training for junior staff.
- Participate in non-deal specific projects, providing expert advice, training, testing, and implementation.
- Contribute to and review Nedbank CIB and business unit plans, ensuring alignment with business strategy, objectives, and values.
- Improve personal capability and stay abreast of developments in the field of expertise through training courses and career progression.
- Ensure personal growth and effectiveness in performance of roles and responsibilities by completing learning activities, practicing experience, and obtaining certifications.
- Enable skilling and corrective action by sharing knowledge and industry trends with the team and stakeholders.

- CFA, CAIA, FRM, or Postgraduate Degree in commerce and/or business sciences.
- Minimum of 8-12 years' experience in debt financing, portfolio management, and/or strategy consulting, preferably in an investment bank or investment industry asset allocation and strategy.
