An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Maintenance Specialist to join the Boikago Group in Uitenhage. As a key member of our paint shop plant department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities.

Job Description and Responsibilities

  • Facilities Maintenance

Ensure all electrical installations and PLC systems in the paint shop meet the company's standards and requirements for safe plant operation. Utilize structured maintenance systems, such as PMs, checklists, and weekend work job cards, to maintain equipment and prevent downtime.

Electrical Installation and Modification

Recommend, update, and modify electrical installations to stay current with the latest engineering technologies. Collaborate with external suppliers and similar industrial companies to ensure the latest technologies are implemented.

Electrical Equipment Maintenance

Maintain electrical equipment to meet the required health and safety standards, ensuring a safe work environment for all employees.

Facility Adjustments

Adjust facilities, such as conveyor speeds, fan speeds, system pressures, and tank levels, by modifying PLC settings and controller adjustments. Verify the effectiveness of these adjustments through output performance measurements.

Planned Maintenance Activities

Perform planned maintenance activities using the correct tools and testing equipment, following systems, processes, and procedures to ensure all equipment is serviced at the required intervals.

Shop Floor Management

Participate in daily shop floor management, including sectional meetings and problem resolution activities, as driven by the team.

Education, Experience, Skills, Attributes, and Other Requirements

  • A National N Diploma, National Diploma, or B. Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics.
  • Trade test certificate in Electrician or Millwright.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a maintenance or automation environment within the automotive industry.
  • Good experience with PLCs and VSD control systems, including Danfoss and SEW.
  • Understanding of PLC systems, preferably Siemens Simatic S7, and SCADA (WinCC or similar).
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and orally at various levels (operator to management level).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be computer literate (MS Office).

Added Advantage

  • Automation experience.
  • Certified training in PLCs, Drives, etc.

Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate can expect a salary range of R35,000 to R40,000, pending relevant experience, and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical aid, provident fund, bonus, lease vehicle, and 15 days' leave.
