Job Summary

As a key member of the Wasteplan team, the successful candidate will serve as a vital link between management and staff members on site. This role is responsible for ensuring a productive workflow by establishing work planning and monitoring staff performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Staff Supervision
    • Advise the Contract Manager on staffing needs and replacements
    • Set out daily tasks for staff
    • Recommend shifts and revise schedules as needed
    • Conduct weekly meetings with staff to gather feedback
  • SHEQ
    • Maintain good housekeeping standards inside and outside the waste area
    • Report all incidents, spills, and near misses
    • Ensure spills are cleaned up promptly
    • Ensure staff wear the correct PPE
  • Reports
    • Daily attendance register report
    • Daily shift report
    • Provide a daily report on baled material within different waste streams
    • Monthly production (bale count) report
    • Monthly production report for Sorters
  • Production
    • Ensure staff work as productively as possible
    • Book daily collections on the collections app
    • Implement and supervise the workflow, reporting procedures, and systems
    • Identify cost reductions to increase productivity
    • Coordinate and enforce systems, policies, and procedures
    • Ensure a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of control points, equipment, and resources
    • Ensure no load is loaded without a PO number provided by the Contract Manager
    • Monitor and supervise all processes regarding collection or delivery of material, such as bale count and load value
    • Monitor the average weight of all baled material
    • Monitor cage weights collected from sites daily
    • Report any collection challenges to the Contract Manager
  • Equipment and Maintenance
    • Report breakdowns to the Contract Manager
    • Follow up on equipment repairs
    • Ensure staff stop using the baler if a technical issue arises
    • No tools or foreign objects should be placed near the conveyor
    • Ensure the shift does not start bailing until the baler and conveyor are cleaned according to the checklist
Requirements
  • Completed matric/grade 12
  • Minimum of 1-year supervisory experience required
  • Excellent knowledge of different waste material streams
  • Clear criminal record
