Job Description

Role Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled Regulatory Compliance Specialist to join our team at Micah Govender Developments. As a key member of our compliance function, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our organization remains compliant with all applicable regulatory requirements.

Your primary responsibility will be to implement and manage an effective compliance program through the development and management of risk and compliance plans. This includes:

  • Developing and reviewing company policies, including effective implementation of policies and guidelines;
  • Advising management on the company's compliance with laws and regulations through detailed reports;
  • Creating and managing effective action plans in response to audit discoveries and compliance violations;
  • Regularly auditing company procedures, practices, and documents to identify possible weaknesses or risks;
  • Tracking and monitoring of key risk indicators, controls, and action plans;
  • Assessing company operations to determine compliance risk;
  • Conducting research on compliance-related topics;
  • Developing training materials and assisting with training to ensure all employees are educated on the latest regulations and processes;
  • Assisting in compiling risk and compliance reports;
  • Collaborating with other leaders on cross-functional initiatives that focus on the mitigation of compliance risks;
  • Working with external partners, such as Internal Audit, to ensure the effectiveness of the compliance function;
  • Assisting in innovating the Compliance program and function and identifying improvements to existing processes and plans;
  • Providing guidance to business and assisting with implementation of compliance policies and projects;
  • Drafting and compiling regulatory submissions.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong understanding of regulatory compliance principles and practices;
  • At least 5 years of experience in compliance, preferably in the financial services industry;
  • 2nd line compliance experience is essential;
  • Experience in combined assurance planning and execution, 1st line compliance experience, and regulatory complaints handling would be advantageous;
  • A relevant qualification, such as LLB, Legal or Compliance qualification, would be beneficial;
  • Key Individual Regulatory Examination 1 (KIRE 1) certification and/or Phase I Approved - Category I FAIS Licensed Compliance Officer designation would be advantageous.

Location

The position is based in Centurion and requires regular attendance at our offices.
