Database Administrator Team Lead Role Overview

At Dimension Data, we are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator Team Lead to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and availability of our systems, as well as implementing security compliance and best practices. This role requires strong technical knowledge and business acumen to ensure business requirements are met through the implementation of best practices, support processes, and procedures.

The Database Administrator Team Lead will work closely with System & Application Administrators, Service & Operations Management to ensure end-to-end delivery of services in scope. Additionally, the role involves operating in the context of a Principal DBA, performing installs, administering, and maintaining database servers, as well as ensuring database recoverability in the event of a disaster.

Key Qualifications

Matric, Diploma, Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology or equivalent

Oracle database certification and knowledge of Unix, storage subsystems advantageous

Excellent communication skills and high proficiency in English language - speaking, reading, and writing

Ability to create and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and customers

Required Experience

Experience in Senior Database Administrator, Principal, or DBA Team Lead roles

Experience in Cloud Hyperscalers (Oracle OCI, AWS & Azure)

Core Database Administration: administration, maintenance, performance tuning, security, backup, and recovery, high availability

Experience with Oracle Data Guard (DG), Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC)

Unix and PL/SQL scripting knowledge advantageous

Experience in Oracle's Engineered Systems, Oracle Exadata, ODA, Oracle SuperCluster advantageous

Experience in Platform & Database Migrations

Mentor less experienced members of the team in technology and processes.
